J. Michael Pierce president of Allen Insurance and Financial. He was named to this position Jan. 1, 2012.
Mike joined our company in 1998. A graduate of Kennebunk High School, Pierce is a graduate of Boston College and the Suffolk University Law School in Boston.
His prior work experience includes designing and implementing employee benefit programs and 401K plans for businesses throughout New England as part of the Guardian Life Insurance Company. He also was a consultant for Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers, LLP) in Boston, in their tax & financial planning division.
He is a member of the ALlen board of directors, and a past president of the Penobscot Bay YMCA, a past member of the board of directors of the Camden Public Library, a member and past president of the West Bay Rotary Club in Camden and a past director of the MONEY Athletic Foundation. He lives in Hope with his wife, Kate, and their three children, Ella, Lincoln and Cormac.
Gilbert T. Fifield, Chairman

Gilbert T. Fifield is chairman of Allen Insurance & Financial. A Rockland native, he is a graduate if the University of Maine in Orono. He served as company president from 2003 to 2011.
Gil joined Allen in 1986. He is a Certified Insurance Counselor, a significant industry designation, which demonstrates his commitment to ongoing education in the field. He has almost 40 years experience in our industry and handles the insurance needs of some of the area's most well-known businesses.
Gil and his wife Jeanne live in Camden. He has four sons, a daughter and eight grandchildren. His family and golfing keep him busy and happy when he is not at work.

Mike Dufour of Hope has been with Allen Insurance and Financial since 2002. Based in Camden, he is a commercial insurance specialist, helping serve the insurance needs of dozens of local businesses. He was named to the company's board of directors in 2007.
He is a Maine native, and a 1981 graduate of the University of Maine in Presque Isle. He lives in Hope with his wife Pamela and their two sons, Josh and Zach.
He enjoys spending time in the Maine outdoors, supporting his sons' athletic activities and participating in Camden Hills high school booster programs. He is also the registrar of the Maine Coast Skaters Association, which supports and runs area youth hockey programs.
Sara K. Montgomery, Executive Vice President

Sara K. Montgomery of Lincolnville is Allen's executive vice president.
A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Sara, a native of Camden, started her insurance career in 1978 with Hartford Insurance. She came home to work at Allen in 1983, earning her Certified Insurance Counselor designation that same year. The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors is the nation's leading continuing education for insurance professionals.
Sara served as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Maine in 1994-5 and is active with a number of local non-profits, including United Midcoast Charities and Pen Bay Healthcare.
As executive VP at Allen, Sara supervises the human resource, accounting, property and information technology aspects of the company as well as serving the insurance needs of a large number of business clients.
When she's not at work, Sara enjoys Maine's outdoors by bike, boat and ski, as well as gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Peter Williams, Vice President

Peter Williams joined Allen Insurance and Financial in 1991. He is a commercial lines producer, working with area businesses on their insurance needs. He is also a vice president of the company.
Peter grew up in Camden and graduated from the University of Maine in Orono with degrees in business management and public administration. He worked previously for the Hartford Insurance Company and the Fred. S. James Company.
He holds a Certified Insurance Counselor designation, which is recognition of his commitment to continuing education from the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, the nation's leading continuing education for insurance professionals.
When he's not at work, Peter, who lives in Searsmont, enjoys spending time with his son and daughter and hiking, hunting and fishing in the Maine outdoors.
Peter Van Alstine, Vice President

Peter has been in finance all his working life. After graduating from the University of Vermont in 1966, he had a one-year stint as a cost accountant and contract administrator and then joined the international accounting firm of Ernst & Ernst (now Ernst & Young). In 1972, he joined Diversified Communications, Inc., of Camden as vice president of finance and treasurer. While with D.C.I., he was responsible for all employee benefits and other insurance for more than 200 employees throughout the U.S.
In 1978, Peter started his own business in insurance and financial services, which merged with the Allen Agency Financial Services Department in January 2001 to become Allen Financial.
Peter is on the Board of Directors of Allen Insurance and Financial. He is a life and qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table®, a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and an Investment Adviser Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network, Member FINRA.
